On Second Thought magazine is a publication of the Humanities North Dakota a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing lifelong learning opportunities to the citizens of North Dakota. We strive to serve as the catalyst for important conversations around the issues and challenges we face today. Taking a humanities approach to problem solving, we provide thoughtful and informed analysis steeped in history, philosophy, ethics, literature, archaeology, anthropology, jurisprudence, and other scholarly pursuits that take into account the human experience. In the end, we hope to provide readers with a better understanding of the past, a better analysis of the present and a better vision for the future. We are a nonpartisan organization. We do note advocate or take positions on issues. Instead, we seek to offer a 360 degree perspective.
